| Chu Kong Shipping Development Co., Ltd. ("CKSD") is a listed company incorporated in Hong Kong held by Chu Kong Shipping Enterprises (Holdings) Company Limited ("CKSE") and subject to Guangdong Province Navigation Holdings Company Limited.
Guangdong Province Navigation Holdings Co., Ltd. is one of the 22 large-scale state-owned enterprises authorized by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of Guangdong Province, and it is one of seven leading logistics enterprises in Guangdong Province. It was designated as the fourth national 5A integrated logistics services company, with shipping business as its core business, in Oct 2006.
CKSE was established on 18th of Oct 1962. The company's strategic orientation is ‘based on Hong Kong, backing on the mainland and facing the world. The main business of CKSE includes the shipping operation between Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta (PRD), water high-speed passenger transport and passenger ship trading and repair. It also involves in sales and supply of oil and duty-free goods; investment and management of highway infrastructure; real estate development, tourism, marine adviser and so on.
In September 1996, CKSD was established by CKSE to take over its cargo transportation business, including shipping agency, river cargo direct shipments and transshipments, wharf cargo handling (including mid-stream operations), cargo consolidation and godown storage as well as container hauling and trucking in Hong Kong.
On 23 May 1997, CKSD was listed successfully on the Main Board of The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited (Stock Code: 0560); with its listing, CKSD had entered into a new era of capital and business integration.
With 13 years' development, CKSD has become a large-scale modern logistics enterprise with the support of network of port, transport, market and information in the PRD. CKSD ownes the equity interest in 15 river trade terminals and 33 container agency offices and 17 bulks agency offices in the PRD; and operates 35 containers scheduled shipping routes and 18 bulks scheduled shipping routes between Hong Kong and Guangdong.
